A 100% renewable society is possible with heat pumps!

On September 29th, the #HPForum: Green Heat Recovery took place in the magnificent Gare Maritime, in Brussels. The aim of the forum was to discuss what is needed today to decarbonize Europe’s “heating and cooling” fully and effectively by 2050. More than 110 participants were present at the Gare Maritime-the building that that was also the winner of the 2020. Over 350 attendees also joined virtually the diverse program of panel sessions and expert interventions covering heat pump applications for residential and industrial buildings, digitalisation and new business models. The conference also covered the need for competenc in the value chain as well as for simple solutions and an optimised customer journey. The day concluded with the presentation of the five winners of the 11th edition of the Heat Pump Award in the Heat Pump City of the Year, DecarBuilding, DecarbIndustry, Out of the box and People’s Choice Awards categories. The event gathered 31 thought leaders as speakers and moderators, among which high-level policy-makers, major players of the heating and cooling industry, influencers from related stakeholders who shared their insights throughout the different sessions.
“With heat pump solutions being fully recognized towards achieving the energy and climate targets, the next 2 – 3 decades will be characterized by an effort to make ambitious targets the reality on the ground. An integrated energy system will use a maximum of renewable energy, both electricity and thermal energy, integrate waste heat from industry and buildings and be near to emissions-free. EHPA and its members are well prepared to contribute to this discussion on the policy level and to deliver the needed solutions to end-users. The technology is available today. We need policy innovation to ensure a fast mass deployment.” said Thomas Nowak, EHPA’s Secretary General.
To celebrate the most efficient, smart, and sustainable Heat Pump projects of the year. The forum opened new doors towards a decarbonized Europe by 2050 and proved that a fully renewable society is possible with heat pumps! Judging from the smiles on the faces of the participants, the forum was a great success. The active participation resulted in a change-making experience.
